Neuroaffirming Support Coordination for Neurodivergent Adults

We provide Support Coordination services for adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, who are accessing support via the NDIS in Australia.

We specialize in working with adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. We choose to work with adults because we recognise that there is a lack of adult-appropriate neurodiverse services.

Neuroaffirming Support Coordination

Lived experience makes a big difference to how we practice Support Coordination. Our entire team and Director, are all neurodiverse and/or have other chronic health conditions which means we “get it” in a way an allistic, abled human never could. Here’s what that means in real terms:

  • Our appointments with you can focus on your goals, priorities, and needs rather than educating us on Autism or ADHD

  • We are able to understand your lived experience better than an abled human, and the impacts of your experiences

  • We share resources with you and between our team members

  • We understand how crucial it is to work with a neuro-affirming provider wherever possible - and do our best to link you in with them

  • Our Support Coordination services are designed to be neuro-affirming, and we’re actively looking for ways to improve

The Role of Support Coordination for Neurodivergent Adults

Neuro-affirming Support Coordination can be a powerful resource for NDIS Participants with disabilities that impact their executive functioning.

Whether you’ve been late-diagnosed and are at the beginning of the wild ride of unpacking what it means for you or you’re well versed in how your flavor of neurodivergence presents, neuro-affirming services (not just Support Coordination) are an invaluable resource for accessing appropriate and adequate healthcare, and supporting your wellbeing. You could think of it as having your own NDIS consultant, or an NDIS Mentor / Manager.

Support Coordination for neurodiverse adults means that you can outsource a large portion of the management and organization of your NDIS funding and support, to someone else. It also means we have the inside scoop on services we know humans in our community commonly need (like cleaners, gardeners, and home decluttering!) so you don’t have to do all the heavy cognitive lifting alone.

Common Ways We Work with Participants

Our Support Coordination is tailored to the needs of neurodivergent adults. Here is a non-exhaustive list (yay for lists!) of how we most often engage with participants, and what we most often assist with:

  • Link you with (as much as possible) neuro-affirming NDIS service providers, like Psychology or Occupational Therapy

  • Assist with finding Disability Support Workers who match your needs, and are appropriately skilled for the role

  • Assist with the management of your NDIS Plan funds with forecasts and monitoring

  • Support you to develop your knowledge of NDIS and how funding can be optimised

  • Coordinate NDIS required reports and assessments from your providers

  • Assist you with NDIS processes, like Plan Reassessments
